Instagram is currently the most popular social media app on earth. With over one billion monthly active users, the app has evolved into more than just a photo-sharing platform.
Instagram, like many other social media platforms, evolved into a traditional social media platform over time by adding more and more features. Aside from posting photos, users can now send direct messages to others, share links, share stories, post short videos in the form of reels, post long videos on IGTV, and do a variety of other things. All of these features are already available in some form or another on other social media platforms.
Instagram, like Facebook and WhatsApp, displays a user’s availability status. The Facebook-owned app is called “Activity Status,” and it displays whether or not the user is online.
It’s an attractive prospect because it informs your friends and family that you’re online right now and that they can interact with you if they want to. However, there are times when you don’t want your contacts or friends to know you’re online.
In that case, the app allows users to conceal their “Activity Status” so that others do not know whether they are online or not.
We’ll show you how to hide Instagram activity status on iPhone.
Hide Instagram Activity Status on iPhone
- Open the Instagram app.
- Log in to the Account whose activity status you want to hide.
- Tap the profile page in the lower right corner.
- Tap the hamburger menu in the top right corner, then tap Settings.
- Tap the Privacy option.
- Tap the Activity Status option.
- Turn the toggle Off which says ”Show Activity Status”.
That’s it. Now your online status will not be shown to anyone.
This procedure will only disguise your online presence. If, on the other hand, someone sent you a direct message and you read it, the app displays the read receipt to that person. This process will not conceal the read receipt on the direct message, and Instagram does not permit users to conceal read receipts.
