How to Manage WhatsApp Notifications
Follow these steps to manage your WhatsApp notifications on the web and desktop.
Step 1: To begin, launch WhatsApp web or desktop.
Step 2: Then, on the home page, select Menu (three dots).
Step 3: Now, from the list of options, select Settings.
Step 4: Select Notifications from the new screen.
Step 5: You will be presented with three options to which you can make changes:
- Sounds
- Desktop Alerts
- Show Previews
You can even disable all chat alerts and sounds for a set period of time, such as 8 hours, a week, or a year. You can also reactivate notifications at any time. To reactivate notifications, go to Alerts and sounds. To restore, click the bell icon.
How to Mute Individual or Group Chat
Step 1: To begin, launch WhatsApp web or desktop.
Step 2: Then, on the home page, select Menu (dropdown arrow) from individual or group chat.
Step 3: Now, from the list of options, select Mute Notifications.
Step 4: You will be presented with three options to which you can make changes:
- 8 Hours
- 1 Week
- 1 Year
Step 5: Select Mute Notifications.
You can unmute notifications at any time; to re-enable notifications, locate the muted chat, and click Menu (three dots). Now, select Unmute notifications from the list of options.
Remember that muting an individual or group chat on your phone will also mute it on WhatsApp Web and Desktop. Aside from that, all other notification settings are independent of your phone and computer and have no effect on each other. Good luck.
