Rather than changing this setting for each video, we’ll show you how to permanently set YouTube video quality on Android.

The acquisition of YouTube by Google changed the site’s business model, shifting it from generating revenue solely from advertisements to offering paid content such as movies and exclusive content produced by YouTube. It also provides YouTube Premium, a paid subscription option for viewing content without advertisements. YouTube has also approved creators to join Google’s AdSense program, which aims to increase revenue for both parties.

Why You Should Change YouTube Video Quality Permanently?
YouTube adjusts the quality of the video you’re watching to your internet connection speed to provide you with the best viewing experience possible. However, this is done automatically, which can be quite annoying at times. You may need to change the video quality for better viewing or to save data. This can interfere with your viewing experience, especially if you have to do it several times while the video is playing. As a result, it is best to permanently adjust the quality of a video.
How To Change YouTube Video Quality Permanently From Android
YouTube will automatically adjust the video quality on your iPhone, which may increase data demand on your device. If you’re not careful, you can quickly run out of data. Alternatively, you may find yourself constantly changing the video quality to take advantage of the iPhone’s HD display. In either case, the solution is to change the video quality permanently.
In April 2021, YouTube will change the way its video quality options work on mobile. You can now select a pre-set video quality when your device is connected to Wi-Fi or a cellular network.
There are four distinct options for video quality:
- Auto, which changes the video quality depending on your current network conditions, screen size, and quality of the original video.
- Higher picture quality, which shows you videos in 720p resolution or higher and uses more data.
- Data saver, which shows you lower-quality videos but is handy if you want to save data.
- Advanced, which lets you select specific video quality. It’s the only option that allows you to do this.
If you’ve noticed that the video quality varies from one video to the next, it’s because you’re using the Auto setting. The amount of data YouTube consumes is determined by the quality of your streaming.
Keep in mind that you will never be able to watch a video in a higher resolution than it was uploaded in. For example, if a video was uploaded in 480p resolution, it cannot be viewed in 720p or 1080p resolution.
Because changing these quality settings for each video is inconvenient, we’ll show you how to permanently set the quality on Android:
- Start the YouTube app and tap your account display photo in the upper right corner.
- Choose Settings.
- Tap Video quality settings. On the next page, select On mobile networks or Wi-Fi if you’re using iOS.
- Select either Higher picture quality or Data saver under Video quality on mobile networks/Wi-Fi.
One thing you’ll notice is that you can’t choose a specific video resolution. To do so, select the Advanced option, which is only available while watching a video.
Follow these steps to accomplish this:
- Use the YouTube mobile app to watch any video.
- In the video player window, tap anywhere.
- In the upper right, tap the three dots or the Gear icon.
- From the pop-up menu, choose Quality and then Advanced.
- Select a particular video quality. Your video will begin playing in the video quality you have chosen.
Keep in mind that the options available will be determined by the original quality of the uploaded video. This setting is also not permanent. When you switch to another video, it will change.
The video quality options on YouTube can be perplexing at first. However, by following the tips outlined above, you will be able to watch videos of your preferred quality indefinitely.
