Why Share Links From Your Android Device to a Windows PC Essential?
Sharing links to your Windows PC allows you to jump right in without having to copy and paste the link to your digital notebook or email the link to yourself. Here’s a simple method for sending links from your Android phone to a Windows PC.
How to Share Links Easily From Your Android Device to a Windows PC
To share a link from your Android phone to your Windows PC, you must first connect both devices. But first, make sure your phone is running Android 7.0 (Nougat) or later, and that your Windows PC has the Windows 10 May 2019 Update.
So, first, if necessary, update your Android phone or PC. Furthermore, for this method to work, your phone and PC must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
To prepare your phone and Windows PC for link sharing, follow these steps:
- On your Windows PC, download and install the Your Phone Companion app.
- Start the app, choose Get Started, and sign in with your Microsoft account. Create a Microsoft account if you don’t already have one. The app will direct you to a screen where you can pair your Android phone.
- Select the checkbox next to I am ready to use the Your Phone Companion – Link to Windows app. Pair with QR code (You can also select Pair manually, but it’s a little time-consuming.) The app will generate a one-of-a-kind QR code.
- Then, on your Android phone, download Microsoft’s Your Phone Companion app from the Google Play Store. Start the app and select Link your phone and PC.
- Continue by pointing the QR code scanner at the code displayed on your Windows PC.
After scanning, tap Continue on your device to grant the app all of the required permissions. Allow the app to run in the background as well. On your phone, tap Done to finish. To finish, tap Continue on your PC.
How to Share a Link
Now that your devices are connected, you can share a link from your phone to your PC by following the steps below:
- Open the link you want to share in your phone’s browser. In this example, we’ll use Google Chrome.
- Select Share from the three-dot menu in the top right.
- From the share menu, choose Your Phone Companion. Tap More if you don’t see Your Phone companion in the app list.
- A pop-up window with a list of connected PCs will appear in your Phone Companion app. To send the link, enter your PC’s name.
If your computer is turned on, the link will open immediately in your default browser. Otherwise, you will be notified when you turn on the computer.
Sharing links from one device to another should not be a difficult task. For Android and Windows PCs, the process is very simple, and the link opens directly in your default browser. It doesn’t get any easier than that.
